LETTERS TO FR. GIUSSANI
These “letters” are a very small part of the notes many have left on Fr. Giussani’s tomb in Milan’s Monumentale Cemetary, expressing requests, hopes, and desires; simply asking help, just as it has always been, today more than before.
Fr. Giussani is “more a father than ever,” as Fr. Carrón said at his funeral

Dearest Fr. Gius: Please intercede that our friend, A. may, like you, in the simplicity of his heart, offer everything.

Protect us and our family, you, who now see above all the needs of the children. Intercede that they may find their road, the one toward Christ. Thank you. In this moment, please have a special concern for V., N., C., C., C., A., and for M.’s job.

Dear Fr. Gius: Thank you for everything you have taught us and for how much I have received from the Lord. Intercede for me and for all my loved ones, that each may have faith, health, work, and each of us may find the road that the Lord has prepared for us.

Fr. Gius: Please help me understand what God wants of me. Help me to glorify Him in every instant of my life. I entrust my loved ones and my friends to you. In particular, watch over and protect S., so she may know the sweet mercy of God.

Help M. to regain his health. Intercede for him.

Fr. Gius: I’m in terrible pain. Yesterday I was in front of another, the same face, but another person, who lives the opposite of what I live, and the opposite of what he says. But there is truth! You can recognize it. You can choose it! It’s not true that there’s no choice; if this were so, this pain I live with would be to no end! I understand that Jesus is calling me through this to take your road, and I have to rediscover all that you tell us, that you have told us. Help me in this. Implore Our Lady’s help for me.

Thank you for the help given to my daughter M. in her illness and to my family in this moment of trial.
Dear Fr. Gius: I entrust my vocation to you! Help me, that these days of retreat may help me love Jesus as you loved Him.

Beloved Fr. Gius: I entrust X to you, who is very ill, and I entrust my home and my heart, that they may be converted to Jesus in every moment. Thank you.

Dear Gius: I ask you for Grace for my whole life, Grace for my brother, and Grace for my dear parents. Amen.

Fr. Gius: You know already, I ask your intercession for my exams and for S. Let me walk and become great like you, not taking anything for granted and acknowledging Christ! Thank you.

Our Lady, through the intercession of Fr. Gius, help my uncle in his moment of death agony. We ask for his healing, but the Lord’s will be done.

Thank you Fr. Gius, because you are a father more than ever for us, and you give certitude to our faith.

We pray, transform impotence into offering. Please intercede for the health of A. and the serenity of his family. We ask for our conversion and that of our children. And thank you, because through your person it has become possible for us.

Dear Gius: I entrust my family to you. Pray for us so that we may come with you into the presence of the glory of God. Make my soul become ever more transparent; let God’s plan for happiness be fulfilled by Jesus.

Dear Fr. Gius: We entrust to you the life of our friend F. We ask for his complete healing, for your intercession, for which we beg with our daily prayer. We submit to His will.
Dear Gius: I entrust to you my family, in particular M., that you may intercede with Mary and grant us your faith. I pray that my pain not be the last word on life, but be a reason for rebirth in the mercy of Christ. I also entrust the Fraternity to you, that it may become ever more the sphere for a true life. With immense love.

Dear Fr. Gius: I entrust to you my friend B., that she may be healed of her illness and that within this condition that has been given to her she may continue to walk with the people who have gathered around you. May she entrust herself daily to Our Lady, and learn from her to say the “yes” that illness cannot impede. May we friends learn to love her and look at her as you looked at us: as Mystery present among us. I also entrust to you my friends and family, that in every gesture we do together we recognize His presence.

Dear Fr. Gius: You know well, today my heart is overflowing with sadness. I don’t know why, but I know that I have to give in; I have to allow Christ to take me. Please look after L. I love him very much, and we ask Jesus together to fulfill our marriage. I often think of A. and M.: help them! Give me the strength to live and to ask, without ever abandoning the people we are. Intercede for our friends who work in healthcare; they love you very much. Ciao.

Dear Fr. Giussani: I commend to your prayers to the Holy Virgin our children: S., I., and M., that their road may be clear. For G., E., and C. and their parents, that they may remain in the faith and that their path may be evident. For B. and family, for M. and family, for S. and family: accompany them in their journey of pain and Mystery. Thank you for your closeness.

Dearest Fr. Giussani: Please take in your arms my mother, her husband, me, and my family, and accompany us along the road the Lord has chosen. Give my mother all the time she needs to reconcile with the Lord. I would like to have her with me longer. I pray for my mother’s healing, for D. and for L., for the serenity of S., G. and L.
