meeting 2003
Closing Remarks
from the Meeting for Friendship Among Peoples in Rimini, August
30, 2003
Luigi Giussani
I ask God for the energy to wish for me and for you that
Our Lady may
assist us in our life’s greatest task–our life’s most intense
fruit, the fruit of everything in our life–“In Te misericordia, in
Te magnificenza,” in You is mercy, in You munificence.
So often, we are poor, petty, arid, and lost, but we are Your children. Have
pity on us. “Pietade,” pity, the word that as time passes takes root
in us, who participate ever more profoundly in the experience of Your great motherhood,
Your eternal motherhood.
Therefore may the reason of life as hope, which has been revivified so greatly
in recent years–the prospect of life as hope–have You as light, as
affectivity, as locus. May each and every act of our life have, tend to have
You as locus.
My wish for you, my wish for us is to live this mystery of relationship with
Our Lady as much as possible in our life, even if we have wandered, as I am doing
now. Ciao.
